Heat conduction: All slide materials can get hot in the sun.Accessibility: Did you know that people who wear hearing devices such as cochlear implants cannot slide down plastic slides due to the static electricity that the slide generates? That static electricity interferes with the implant's settings and can affect the wearer's hearing.Slides were carefully chosen based on a number of factors as well as some observations and learnings from the Palo Alto Magical Bridge site. Slides: Many folks have recently inquired about the use of metal slides in our playground over plastic. These will be installed by the end of Winter. Currently, three structures have been planned and are being fabricated for installation over the Slide Mound, in the Kindness Corner, and in the Tot Zone. Shade Structures: (revised ) One thing that was added after our initial park plans were made public and space was evaluated, was the addition of shade structures.Jen will be here in Redwood City on October 19th and will take up to a week to complete her installation. She had up until recently been restricted to her home state of New York under travel quarantine, and thankfully, this was just lifted (to and from California).
